Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Analyst’s primary objective is to facilitate the implementation of cost-effective technology solutions by documenting business and functional requirements, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. Business Analyst will review and document business processes and represent the interests of the business stakeholders to the IT team.

 

Individual will work with an IT team that is responsible for supporting a complex ERP environment of interconnected systems. Position will act as a change agent to help facilitate justification, prioritization, and deployment of modifications to current processes. Business Analyst will work closely with product owner(s), systems analysts, stakeholders, and development team to transform business needs into user stories and other requirements documents.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
  • Confers with company personnel to ascertain specific requirements, time frame, and methods and procedures to accomplish projects.
  • Consults with departmental management and personnel to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access.
  • Acts as a liaison between departmental end-users, information technology analysts, consultants and managers in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of information technology systems to ensure optimal operational performance.
  • Analyzes the feasibility and develops requirements for new systems or enhancements to existing systems; ensures the system design fits the needs of the users.
  • Tracks and fully documents changes for functional and business specifications; writes detailed universally understood procedures for permanent records and for use in training.
  • Identifies opportunities for improving business processes through information systems changes; assists in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes.
  • Plans, organizes and conducts business process reengineering/improvement projects and/or management reviews of company IT systems. Recommended solutions should be developed in consultation with impacted internal and external stakeholders, but should remain objective and independent of the specific stakeholders.
  • Conducts change impact analysis to assess the potential implications of changes and documents business rules, functions and requirements.
  • Participates in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality.
  • Acts as a team lead on designated projects or assignments.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Data Processing, Business or Computer Science or related field or equivalent job experience.

 

Experience:

Minimum of three years of experience working with ERP systems in a similar or related position.

 

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Advanced understanding of ERP systems and core processes, including accounting, order processing and inventory management
  • Prior experience at eliciting and capturing requirements using various techniques, including but not limited to, user stories, use cases, data modeling, process flow modeling, screen mockups, and report mockups
  • Advanced experience with MS Office suite required
  • ERP implementation experienced desired
  • Experience with Oracle and/or SQL databases is desired but not required
  • Experience with Visio and other flowcharting tools
  • Strong customer service orientation, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Refined analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • Experience conducting meetings and making presentations.
  • Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis and business case development.
